Graduate Scholarships

The Materials Science and Engineering program offers scholarships to graduate students. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.  We truly invest in our students educational and career goals.

 

Scholarship Opportunities 

Materials Science Success Scholarship

This scholarship is available to full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in the Cullen College of Engineering majoring in Materials Science and Engineering.

Notification of awards will be sent to your UH email address. Please make sure your destination email is updated in PeopleSoft (MyUH).

Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicant must be a certified full-time or graduate (9 hours) degree-seeking student in good standing in the Materials Science and Engineering Program at the University of Houston.
  • Applicant must have and maintain a GPA of 3.8.
  • Applicant must exhibit leadership qualities as determined by the Materials Science and Engineering Scholarship Committee.
  • Applicant may not be a recipient of this scholarship from previous years.
  • Recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with this scholarship. Funds must be used to cover tuition, fees, books, and/or supplies for the upcoming academic semester.
  • Students not meeting the scholarship requirements prior to the second semester disbursement will be revoked.

Awards for this scholarship will be determined by the Materials Science and Engineering Scholarship Committee.


Materials Science Distinguished Student Scholarship

This scholarship is available to full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in the Cullen College of Engineering majoring in Materials Science and Engineering.

Notification of awards will be sent to your UH email address. Please make sure your destination email is updated in PeopleSoft (MyUH).

Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicant must be a certified full-time or graduate (9 hours) degree-seeking student in good standing in the Materials Science and Engineering Program at the University of Houston.
  • Applicant can apply after their third semester.
  • Applicant must have and maintain a GPA of 4.0.
  • Applicant must exhibit leadership qualities as determined by the Materials Science and Engineering Scholarship Committee.
  • Applicant may be a recipient of this scholarship from previous years.
  • Recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with this scholarship. Funds must be used to cover tuition, fees, books, and/or supplies for the upcoming academic semester.
  • Students must be enrolled for the two semesters of disbursement.
  • Students not meeting the scholarship requirements prior to the second semester disbursement will be revoked.
  • Disbursement will be processed during the first week of school

Awards for this scholarship will be determined by the Materials Science and Engineering Scholarship Committee.


Materials Science Best Dissertation Award

This scholarship is available to graduate students pursuing a degree in the Cullen College of Engineering majoring in Materials Science and Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicant must graduate the semester to qualify for award.
  • Scholarships are only applied for fall or spring Graduation. Summer Graduates may apply for the following fall award review timeframe.
  • Applicant must exhibit leadership qualities as determined by the Materials Science and Engineering Scholarship Committee.

Awards for this scholarship will be determined by the Materials Science and Engineering Scholarship Committee.
